Dress Code

General Attire Guidelines

To create the best learning environment, all dancers are expected to arrive to class in the proper dance attire with hair secured neatly. Appropriate dancewear allows instructors to see proper body alignment, improves safety, and helps dancers move comfortably. In past years older students have had a more lax dress code. Due to safety, respect of the teachers, and the expectations of the studio the dress codes will be upheld to participate in classes.

  • Hair must be pulled back securely before class.
    • Ballet, Tap, Jazz classes: Hair must be in a bun.
    • All other classes: Ponytail, braid, or bun is acceptable as long as hair is out of the face.
  • No jewelry, with the exception of small stud earrings.
  • No jeans, dresses, skirts (unless attached to a leotard for ballet), or restrictive clothing.
  • Dancers should bring a labeled water bottle to class that does not leak.
  • Street shoes are not permitted on the dance floor
  • Dance Shoes should not be worn anywhere but in the studio.

Additional Notes

  • Dance shoes should only be worn inside the studio to help protect the dance floors.
  • Please label all shoes, dancewear, and water bottles with your dancer's name.
  • All shoe styles are available to try on at the studio year round! Just ask Stephanie to set up a time to try on shoes!
  • Slow Transition To the New Shoes
    • Due to the changes in shoe color from past years I am allowing a slow transition into the new colors. That being said, if your dancer still fits in their previously colored shoes for ballet or jazz class they may wear them until Jan. 1st. Starting Jan. 1st all shoe colors must follow the updated dress code.

Thank you for helping us maintain a professional, safe, and positive learning environment. We can't wait to dance with you this season!
